Hyundai Elantra Wagon was one of the most successful small station wagons during the 1990s. Hyundai made a brave move by launching the Hyundai Elantra Wagon during 1996, when most of the other manufacturers had stopped producing small wagons.
Price
The 1996 Elantra Wagon was extremely successful, because there weren’t too many competitors in the market, and it was built with high quality materials and stylish looks. It was a steal deal pricing-wise, as it was marketed at extremely affordable price rate of $2,575 – $3,050.
Features
It was built with robust exterior rack, which could hold up to 180lbs of weight and the interior cargo space was about 12 cu ft, which was more than enough to accommodate luggage of several passengers.
The Hyundai Elantra Wagon dominated the market during 1996-2000 and became one of the most successful wagons sold in the market. Later on, with the launch of the 2001 Hyundai Elantra GLS, the production of the wagon was stopped and the era of high end sedans kicked off, as several high-end luxury vehicles were launched into the market.
While looking for used Elantra models, the 2000 Hyundai Elantra Wagon is an excellent option; otherwise only the vehicles marketed after 2002 are recommendable. Moreover, all the spare parts of the Elantra Wagon and Elantra Touring are still readily available as there have been only few change technically, though the exterior styling has changed a lot in past 10 years.
