The 2009 Hyundai Elantra secured 7th place out of 33 small vehicles, based on the analysis of test drives and reviews by the Hyundai Elantra owners and also on the safety and reliability of the vehicle.

The car has the greater fuel efficiency mechanism and provides more spacious and comfortable cabins, even in the segment of compact cars.
It has won the Best Car worth the Money Award, in United States in the segment of compact car models. The 2009 Sedan model was offered in a five door hatchback version called as Elantra Touring. Both the models feature with the 4-cylinder engine mounted in it. The main strengths to the vehicle are quality, instrument controls and fuel economy.
The Elantra Touring model is also offered in four-door Sedan SE and GLS trim levels. The models received small changes in sound system and suspension tuning. The wheel base of the Touring model is longer by two inches, but the overall length of the new Elantra has been decreased.
All the Elantra models come with 2.0 liter engine with four cylinders and are mated with five speed manual transmission and also provide four-speed automatic transmission as optional. The Sedan models produce 138 hp of power, while the Touring models produce 141 hp.
The safety features available in the Elantra include –
